Transition

While walking along the shore of Kin Beach on Vancouver Island, an unusual tree called for attention and drew me in.
 
Over the next few weeks, I spent a great deal of time with her while manipulating wire, desperate to understand and capture her form and the essence of her character. 
 
For me, she expresses a Transition that I find stunning - in her and in people. Her long, mostly straight trunk suggests one who lived and grew as expected. The side branch, however, is where she came back to re-discover herself.
 
She has let expectations die and is embracing her unusual, unexpected, and quirky personality... and she is stunning.
